問：I suspect the doctor is right about his diagnosis這一句，是說「我認為醫生診斷正確」還是「診斷有誤」？
答：首先，這一句的about宜改為in。英文會說to be right in one's judgement/decision/observation/guess（某人判斷/決定/觀察/猜想正確），那in不可改為about。
讀者那一句，應是說「我想，醫生的診斷正確」。要說診斷或不正確，最簡單說法是I doubt the doctor's diagnosis。
Suspect和doubt，中文都可以譯做「懷疑」，但suspect有「相信是如此」含義，doubt則表示「不相信是如此」。例如：（1）I suspect that those are the facts（我想，那些應是事實）。（2）I doubt that those are the facts（我想，那些未必是事實）。
留意doubt之後，常用if或whether帶出子句（clause），suspect卻不可和if或whether連用。換言之，suspect不可用於以下句式：I doubt whether those are the facts（我想，那些未必是事實）。
此外，說懷疑某事是否真實、是否有價值等，有時也可用suspect，用法和doubt相同，例如：I suspect/doubt his honesty（我懷疑他不誠實）。
問：視察學校、樓房等，英文可不可說inspection to a school/a building？
答：Inspection之後，通常用of帶出所視察的東西，不用to，例如：He made a careful inspection of the school/building（他仔細視察那學校/建築物）。
